#046 Read in the Library of Congress Reading Room
All the President’s Men is the true thriller about two city-beat reporters who uncover the biggest story of their lives – the Watergate break-in. Their reporting began the exposure of a complex web of crimes and cover-ups leading to the resignation of President Richard Nixon. One scene from the movie shows an overhead shot of the Library of Congress where Woodward and Bernstein are researching records (long before the Internet).
When we were in Washington D.C. in 2008, Nina persuaded us all to get library cards so that we could read under the library dome.
#035 Swim with a dolphin
Nina went to Sea World in San Diego with my sister Paula and her husband Bob and his daughter Lindsey. Paula made an appointment for the girls to swim with the dolphins. Nina called me at home. She was over-the-moon with excitement. She was surprised that the dolphin’s skin felt rough like sandpaper.
#171 See Stonehenge
In this age of computers and instant information, this ancient Wonder is filled with mystery. The picture shows Nina standing in front of this monument as the sky overhead is filling with grey clouds that will add a brooding, almost foreboding feel to these giant monoliths. Perhaps something momentous is about to happen…
#127 Go Whale Watching
My mom took everyone on an Alaskan cruise for her 75th birthday. We went whale watching. These creatures are so magnificent that it’s an honor to get to see them, even from a distance. It filled all of us with awe.
