A list item that requires travel, usually out of the country.
Nina sighted them from the deck of the icebreaker Lyubov Orlova, summer 2007. She was traveling with Students on Ice, celebrating the Polar Year. Baby, it’s cold outside! If you want to do something cool (literally and figuratively), consider putting this on your list! (In 2009, she also saw the Southern Lights from Ushuaia, in Tierra del Fuego, on her trip to Antarctica.)
Nina’s didn’t get the opportunity to check “scuba dive in Australia” off her list. What about you? Are you certified to scuba dive? What’s the best place you’ve ever dived?
True Paradise! An on-this-planet-but-seems-like-a-science-fiction place; but, it’s all incredibly, wonderfully real! Talk about unique creatures – swimming iguanas, tropical penguins, “boobie” birds with bright blue feet and frigate birds that puff their chests into red balloons. This is one item I hope everyone will put on their list!
She traveled all over the world, but Nina never took that impromptu flight to another country.
What was the most spontaneous trip you’ve ever taken?
The Pushkar Camel Fair didn’t get checked off Nina’s list. Have you ever been there? Had you ever even heard of the event before now?
Machu Picchu — ancient, exotic, and mysterious. Travelers from the 21st century, Nina, her grandmother, aunt and uncle, went back in time to experience the wonder of the Incan civilization. Is this wonder of the world on your list?
Pandas are such beautiful creatures. To me, their eyes look so soulful. But, I’m sure it has something to do with camouflage in the wild. I’m glad Nina got to get close and touch a panda. I wouldn’t have thought to put this on my list. Is one of the items on your list– to see an exotic animals up close and personal?
In 2008, Nina visited her brother Sandy who was teaching English in Shenzhen, China. They had a wonderful adventure traveling together. When I look at these pictures, it seems like another world, another time, or a movie set; It’s hard to believe that it’s real! This is definitely on my list. Is it on yours?
Foodie fest in Hong Kong! Yum! Afternoon High Tea in the lobby of the legendary Peninsula Hotel. Doesn’t this look like something out of the Great Gatsby? It gets better. Top it off with dim sum (Chinese brunch) at the world famous City Hall Maxim’s Palace. Have you ever wanted to eat exotic foods in an exoitc place? Is this on your list?
