When Nina graduated from 8th grade, she read about an organization in the paper that was asking for donations of prom-type dresses because they couldn’t afford them. Nina and her friends got together and donated their dresses.
Nina first rode a horse when she was little. My sister put her on and led her around the corral. She thought it was wonderful and immediately fell in love with her horse.
Worked in Phoenix on two political campaigns: Barack Obama’s (we know how that turned out…) and Andrew Cherney who ran unsuccessfully for Arizona State Treasurer.
Nina’s friends could probably fill this page with tales of laughter that they shared (and I hope they will!) One memory in particular comes to mind: Nina and I were shopping at Paradise Valley Mall in December. The parking lot was packed and I was driving a van at that time. The only parking space we could find was for a compact car. Somehow I wedged the van into that spot. I could barely open the door on my side. Undaunted, I wriggled out of the car. shut my door and found myself stuck in the tiny space between the two cars. I couldn’t move. Nina was doubled over with laughter. After what seemed like an eternity, she stood up and literally pulled me out. I’ll never forget it.
Nina wanted to change a tire for someone. Have you ever stopped to help someone you didn’t know get back on the road?
Nina never had the opportunity to purchase her own home. When you bought your first home, were you able to get exactly what you wanted? What was the one thing you did that made it feel like home?
Not many young people are able to make a donation that gets their name on the building or on a scholarship, Nina didn’t mark this one off the list.

Nina and her friends did this in high school. It took her a couple years to grow out her hair. I remember when she came home from getting her hair cut. She was excited to help.
Nina loved Maya Angelou’s book, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”. She was very excited when I got tickets for us to hear Maya Angelou at Gammage Auditorium in October 2007.
Besides to her parents, Nina never got to tell someone “I love you.”
